Research reports and fact sheets on caste-affected countries

The Indian Institute of Dalit Studies (IIDS) has issued four reports based on the research and documentation undertaken by universities in four caste-affected countries (Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan) in cooperation with Dalit activists, as part of a regional research project on caste discrimination. On the basis of the reports, brief fact sheets for each country have been prepared by IDSN. The final reports and fact sheets can be found at www.idsn.org.

Specific links: The research teams have covered new grounds and exposed what has been invisible to most outside of the affected communities. Their work represents a new landmark and an invaluable contribution to the struggle for Dalit rights.

It is our sincere hope that the research reports and fact sheets will be widely distributed and extensively used by Dalit activists, government officials, international organisations and bilateral agencies, the research community, the media, civil society and others who wish to contribute to the elimination of caste discrimination.

Summaries of the research reports will become available in local languages in the respective countries.
