Indian court orders arrest of Dutch activists A court in the India has issued arrest warrants for eight Dutch activists who campaign for better rights for clothing industry workers, news agency ANP reported on Sunday. The eight, who work for the Clean Clothes Campaign, the India Committee of the Netherlands and internet company Antenna, are accused of defamation by a jeans manufacturing firm Jeans Knit. Jeans Knit is 100% owned by Fabric and Fibres International and produces clothes for G-Star, Mexx, Gap and Armani. The activists accused Jeans Knit of violating human rights because of their poor working conditions. Jeans Knit earlier won a court case to stop them repeating their allegations. Jeans Knit has 5,500 employees and turned over $74m last year, according to Indian newspapers. The Netherlands does not have an extradition treaty with the Netherlands, broadcaster NOS pointed out.
